Stav Vessel

The Stav Vessel is our take on a pair of antique vessels found at a French flea market and marked with the name Stavros in the private collection of French designers and partners Pierre Emmanuel Martin and Stephane Garotin. The two are intended to sit together but are also a great compliment to an Aortic (for a smaller staggered height) or the Bridge Handed Vessel (for a taller staggered height).
Materials: Cast white stoneware, black underglaze, slightly textured matte black glaze.

Entry from Robert Fournier's Illustrated Dictionary of Pottery Form: "Ring Vase: A circular, tubular container with a neck at the top and sometimes a foot at the bottom. They are found in the ancient world as far apart from Mycenae, where the ring is horizontal and the neck and handle stand at an upward angle, to the upright ring pots from Recuyay, Peru, which have a foot and a figure at the top. Most modern types, known as "Harvest" or "Mower's" bottles are featured especially in folk pottery."
